Clutch Chatter/engagement problems....
Well, I did a water-pump, clutch set, and catalytic convertor in my '86 Camaro Z-28. I have no clue what the transmission, but the engine is an H code, signifying High Output. The flywheel looked perfect, althought I should have had it turned, I didn't. My uncle owns a machine shop and everything, I was just rushing it, and after looking at teh flywheel, I decided I didnt need to do it. It took a while to get the transmission to line up to the pilot, but it happened. I used the bolts that were with the old clutch.... I never bled the slave cylinder/thing that pushes the clutch fork? There was still all kinds of pressure on it, very hard to get back in place. What happens now is it grinds going into reverse, and when i downshift, the car shudders the slower i let out the clutch. The clutch pedal goes down easy, but i do feel a vibration. From start, the car shudders.... I tried laying a patch for my pal, the tires did not spin, and smoke came from under my hood, then you get the good old clutch smell. When the car is off, it goes thru gears, when its on, It's a little more difficult, esp 1st/2nd gear downshifts... Is it somethign as simple as bleeding the slave cylinder? I was planning on taking the trans. back out, getting the flywheel turned, and exchanging my warranty-ed clutch for a fresh one, thinking maybe i just got sold a bad pressure plate or clutch disk, and if it is bent from driving, mind as well start fresh again..... Help me please, I'm sick of doing transmissions in my 8cyl vehicles!

VIN code H = low output (LG4, the base model 305 4-barrel)
Chatter = you should have had your flywheel turned
Slipping = inferior clutch or incorrect assembly
Grinding = incorrect assembly
Bleeding = unnecessary
What kind of clutch is this?

This comes up so often, it really should be a sticky. Maybe I should write a tech article or something.
