Car: 1985 IROC-Z Z/28
Engine: Brand new GM 350
Transmission: Stock (for now)
Is a manual easier on the car?
Would a manual prolong the life of my 700r tranny instead of my current a4?

the 700r4 is the a4 transmission. a manual (transmission) would replace the whole thing. unless you are refering to a manual shift kit.

Sure a manual trans will prolong the life of your 700r4. It will live a very long and healty life sitting on your garage floor instead of performing shifting duty in your car.
