question about torque converter lockup

alright guys, i don't have the computer in my car, infact, i have never had the computer in any of my v8 cars, i am currently running a 700r4 with the converter not locking up. i have all the wires wired up to run power into the trans but i don't know if it is a good idea to just put power into it without changing stuff inside the tranny. i bought a tci lockup kit from jegs for my other 700r4 and it worked great. it came with a silenoid and some new wires for the inside of the tranny as well as a vacuum switch.

if i just wire 12volts to the tranny without any modifications to the inside, what will happen? anything? or will i break it?

You might want to wire in a switch so that you can control it as it might go into lock up sooner than you like and you should also have it wired through the brake switch. Also make sure the power wire is key switched.

yeah, i got her on a switch inside. just wanted to know if i just put power/ground to it if it would work. i tried it last night and the thing didn't lock up so i am wondering if one of my connections underneath the car is bad. i have to find time to put the thing on jackstands...
