have a 305 engine to install in my 85 firebird and i would like to know if i can still use my 5 speed manual transmission that is in the car now it has a 2.8 lier engine in it now. Also any help with a kit or place that that can help me find a bellhousing and clutch assy.

 

I believe the gear ratios were really different between the 2.8 and the 5.0 for any year.

Check the bottom of the equations page on the home page of tgo for your transmission and the transmission from the car you got the engine from.

 

The bell housing will not bolt to a V8. So no, you'll have to find the V8 stuff, the 6-cyl stuff won't work.

This question gets asked every couple of days. It's one of th emost baic swap questions there is. If you just read through the posts, you'll find it over and over again. Do a search for more specific stuff, this subject has been covered in exhaustive detail, and you can probably find more out about it htan you even thought existed.
