governor swap without dropping transmission?

can I swap governors without lowering my transmission? I really need to do this, but I don't want to have to drop it.

Yeah, I just got done removing the governor in mine about a half dozen times getting the shift points right in my new tranny, no lowering/dropping of the tranny required. It's a little tricky to get the cover on/off without tearing it up with the cramped spaces though...

That's what I've got to do. 1st to 2nd is good, but the 2nd to 3rd shift is really quick. I've got 3 other governors that I can try though. So what is the best way to get that cover off?

A screwdriver or small prybar.

Getting it off is fairly easy, I just removed the spring clip thing and then used a screwdriver tapped with a hammer to get under the lip and pry it off. Getting if back on I had to use a prybar stuck up through a hole in the crossmember and pry/slam the thing back on. Be careful you don't bend up the cover, could bind on the governor if it's bad enough...
