I've had hell lately with my clutch master cylinder, gone through 2 in a week (long story). While I was under the car bleeding the system, I noticed that when the clutch is pressed, the entire cylinder and mounting flange flex and the tail of the slave cylinder moves towards the oil filter. Any way to fix this? I have a feeling that would help get the little extra throw I need for the yoke.

 

Sounds like your bell housing may be cracked.

But it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to make up a little brace out of strip stock or something, to go from one of the SC attach bolts, to a bell housing bolt.
