What the......

I had my T/A back in 1st this morning, just playing around on an open road. stomped it at about 35mph (2200 rpm) as soon as i got it to about 5k rpm it shifted to 2nd! on it's own!


now, that's wered.....

I believe that some automatic transmissions will upshift automatically when you go beyond some max threshold in a particular gear - even if your stick is in a lower gear. I'm not sure about your particular transmission.

It will also protect you from downshifting into 1st if you are going 100MPH. Or at least you better hope so! :-)

My guess is that this was all that happened.

Or maybe you weren't quite in first this time? Your shifter might be slightly out of adjustment. So most times its in the gear you think but not 100% of the time.

that could be, it's a little out from when it dropped and twisted..

i'm putting my spare tranny in it in a few weeks, we'll see if the new one does it too.. hopefully not

hey.... i know its murder to the poor car, but there is nothing more fun than downshifting an auto at 100mph... okay, maybe not 100, but like 50, especially as you're about to go up a short steep hill.... lotsa fun! :lala:
