Peg to Posi

If I wanted to install a posi carrier into my peg leg, do I need to re-setup the pinion shims?
Can I get away with just shimming the carrier into place?
Just wndering if cutting a corner is worth it.
I've never done it before and figure I could do this in a short day (if lucky)
Figured to use the same gears that were in it.
Thoughts?

all you need to do is set back lash. you wouldn't be cutting any cornors.
