So what should I do...go Probuilt or local?

I'm torn...I know the stock transmission is going to go so I'm contemplating what to do. www.dynotechperformance.com builds 700R4's to 400HP (1600$) and 600HP (2000$) and I can drive there and drop my trans off.

I've heard nothing but goods things about Dana's transmission (1500$ @ 550HP). I'm making 375HP if I'm lucky...most likely less.

I've got a feeling shipping from CA is going to cost me 300$....plus if anything did go wrong there is the prospect of shipping a trans coast to coast as opposed to taking it back to Dynotech.

Both places offer a 1 year warranty so that really isn't an issue.

My buddy just had Dynotech rebuild his 200 (rebuild + converter for 1550$) and it's a beast. Chirps second gear at part-throttle....hardcore shifts there. Then again....the probuilt trans is said to have the nice firm WOT shift, yet a soft part throttle shift.

Don't know what to do....1600$ seems like a rip-off considering they are rebuilding a used transmission and I have no idea if it will last though all the GN and Monte Carlo guys love them. The Probuilt trans has nothing but praise....but then I'm gonna get slammed for shipping...and if anything ever goes wrong I'm a pretty far distance from CA.

Any opinions?

If always prefer local in case of problems. I wiped out 2 700'S, stock and local rebuild so I decided to go TCI since local stuff couldn't cut it. For you Local.

Yes.

Just do it. Don't post millions of questions, just do it. Then post answers.

Probuilt has a very good product, freight isnt too bad either. Local guys could build one to PB specs but Ive found most dont go very far beyond stock rebuild. If your looking for warrenty Jasper is going to be your best bet www.jasperengines.com/, yes they build transmissions also with a 3 year 75k warrenty.

I have also heard nothing but good things about Probuilt. Me personally, I am going with a local builder that builds race trannies.

or you go get the rebuild kit from probuilt and have a local guy built it for you, and if u have problems you could ask for help from either one.

i am leaing towards that myself. just because it would be easier for me since i had trouble selling a stock 700r4 before and this way i can just use the same core and get it built up.
