Anyone ever heard of this tranny??

Has anyone ever heard of the TC400?? it is a 400 with a clutch instead of a torque converter...the guys over at www.maliburacing.com were talking about it... they said it hasnt been around for about 30 years.... anyone here know of it? Sounds like it would be a cool tranny....

Do remember seeing a magazine article about it a long time ago. They said you didn't want to put in a shift kit because there wasn't any cushioning normally provided by the TC.

It would eliminate some of the power loss in the TC, but as stated on the other board, TC technology has advanced so far since then that it really isn't needed anymore.

The trans is still used by some racers today that want to be able to feel out their launchs but still have the quick shifts of the automatic.
