Need some tire advice..

Hey all; forgive me if this is in the wrong forum, but I figured this would be the best place to post it.

I just got a nice set of 92 Z28 rims to replace the ones I have on my car. Trouble is, the tires I have now are getting weather cracked. So, I figured that if I'm gonna do a set of new tires, then I'm going to get some nice ones to replace the ones the previous owner put on.

Here's my dilemma: I notice a lot of guys have 16x8 rims, but have thinner tires than me; kinda like low-profile tires. I was thinking, that since my car came from the factory with 15x7 rims, and the speedo gears were never changed (and I can't find any anywhere that'd work), I thought that maybe if I got some lower-profile tires for my new rims, that I could MAYBE get that 16x8 and tire to about the same radius and diamter as the 15x7 rim and tire, so my speedo will be somewhat closer, and not 15 mph off like it is now.

Anyone have any suggestions, ideas, or what kind of place sells tires like what I want?

Thanks all
--Kev

dont worry about that guy. Most everyone here ignores him. Give him one thread so he can rant and rave some BS and then he stays out of most others. Oh well, someday maturity will come to him too.

One day you'll post more technically related info on this tech board than flames and childish verse. We're all waiting for that moment though.

this is funny you say to post some more technically realated info on this tech board and i havent read one single bit of it from you on this discussion yet ...LMAO

to the original question yes i believe you should check out some of the more topend tires like perelli they carry some awsome ones that would help but they are a little pricey but you get what you pay for with tires in my opinoin anyway you could go to www.tires.com and check out what they have ive talked to plenty of guys and gals that have ordered from there and were very happy with them ....

hey general and others that answered my question

i am 100% new to buying tires, but i was able to find some tires i think are halfway decent and aren't too much for my budget. the prices i say may seem a little low compared to what some of you may expect to pay, but on my base's BX, they get and sell tires and pretty cheap tires. so there ARE some perkes to working for uncle sam!

BF Goodrich Traction T/A
P235/55R16
$288/SET

Cooper Cobra Radial G/T
P235/55R16
$302/SET

Any opinions on those tires?

Kev

Hmm... Let me see, moderator is spelled... ummm... let's see... Pretty sure it doesn't begin with 'S'... Oh yea! M-O-D-E-R-A-T-O-R. You don't seem to be one. Want the job, PM IROCZTWENTYGR8, he's the man for it. Unless you have something to contribute (or want to be entertaining in some way) please .

lj and Gen, lay off the silly square for a tad, you really don't want a slap on the wrist for this.

Oh, and jmd, last guy that I know of that started threatening physical harm to another board member got . Is it really worth it to start flaming if it leads to this every time? Cool it.
