700R4 Troubles

I bought a 84 z28 ho. it origanally had a 5-spd in it but the guy i bought it from put in a 700r4 out of an 86 i-roc. is there any kind of instructions on what i need to do to make the conversion work?will it even work at all? and also im getting tranny fluid mixing with my antifreeze. i have replaced the radiaor a couple of times because i thought maybe the innercooler was bad but it doesnt help. any suggestion would be cool. thanks

The swap is definatly possible and has bee done many times before.

The only place the trans and coolant can get contaminated together is the radiator. If you got coolant in your trans you might as well rebuild it because it will fail. Youll also have to replace all rubber in the cooling system.

Antifreeze in the transmission will wash the friction material right off the clutches.

I have a TH-350. How much would it take to slap that thing in there? also my car was origanally a 5-spd car. what would i have to do to put the 700R4 or the TH-350 in there? Is it more work than its worth?

You'd need to take the clutch and flywheel out and replace it with a flexplate. The shifter will come out obviously, and you'll have to fill in the hole in the floor to mount a shifter. You'll have to make the stock torque arm work with the TH350, there are a few different ways to do that, just do a search. There's also a little miscellaneous wiring to be done.
