Loosing Atf

Loosing Atf

On my 305 TPI 86 IROC i am loosing automatic transmission fluid (i think) around the dipstick tube. does anyone have an idea of how to fix this ? If anyone can give me some directions it will be appreciated.

if im not mistaken there is a little rubber seal there. perhaps it's old and cracked, or your dipstick is coming out.

If you try to move the dipstick around, is it loose?

Remove dipstick tube, replace rubber grommet, reinstall dipstick tube. Becareful when installing, the grommets tear very easily.

not to sound stupid ! but how does one remove the dipstick tube ??? sorry but never done this before ?

Loosen the bolt at the bellhousing (that holds the dipstick tube bracket) and pull it out.

Transmission: powerglide,auto overdrive, th350,4L80
yeah just loosen it up and pull it up about 3 inches then climb back under the car and replace the o ring on it if its not that leaking check the tv cable where it meets the trasmission sometimes they will leak there also and it also has an o ring on it
