leafs or not?
I know that pick-ups like S-10 have rear leafs suspension but do the newers Jimmy/Yukon have leafs as well or are they coil springs? Because I can have a complete rear end out of a last generation Jimmy with rear disc brakes and posi 3.42 (or close to that ratio...) for pretty cheap... the calipers are alu as well... now if it doesn't fit my 85 T/A.. what would be involve to make it fit? is it worth 400 CAN bucks or should I look elsewhere?

Can you weld? Can you fabricate control arm mounts?
Lesson for the day: When there are hundred of thousands of rear axles out there that bolt in, you won't save money by modifying another one to fit.
There's a reason I put an 8.5" 10 bolt in my car to replace the 7.625". It fits with zero mods other than driveshaft length. Shocks, control arms, brake lines, park-brake cables, u-joint all the same.
That same reason is why a vast majority of guys here just put another 10 bolt 7.5" in, or a 9 bolt. They fit. Anything else from any other chassis (other than 4th gen doesn't fit.
For 400$ you should be able to find a 3.42 disc 4th gen rear axle. Only mod needed? Wheels.
Keep asking questions. I'll make my posts longer. Your head will spin.
