nah , seriously...
1989 Dodge Spirit , 2.5l , turbo
how about I use two of them ?
obvisouly I don't know what the hell I'm talking about , but why not ? I know that twin turbo isn't easy to do and there's a lot of fabrication involved but it would be easy to use that flexible tubing to get everything in there and fit , then take it out , measure everything and have it custtom made (mandrel bent etc..) , then weld it in myself.
and as far as I know you should always match the turbos to the ci of the engine , so 305 , should be perfect for two turbos that used to be matched to two 2.5l engines.
how much boost could be made with this ?

Dude, do some reading on turbocharging in general. The idea that you match the cubic displacement of an engine with the turbos used on another vehicle is not the way to choose a turbocharger. There are many other factors involved. Too many for another lengthy thread...

GMI FAST,
You are in my area. So you run at Gateway or MAR ?
We probably know some of the same people from the St. Charles area. I would like to check your car out sometime if you don't mind. Track is opening soon too. Do you plan on going in March?

yes I am the same person on mfba.
Gateway is about 30 minutes from where I live. St Charles is almost 30 minutes further.
My friends and I have often travelled to St Charles on the weekends to race at Earth City or on 370.
Some people I know from there: Rob (blue 98 T/A), Omar Phelps, Larry Broeker, Mark Lord, Jim Lyle, Matt Carlton, John Ford, Fred Patterson, and several others.
Which group do you hang out with and where? if you don't mind me asking. I'm not going to challenge you or anything, but I'd like to check out your setup sometime this season.. sounds killer.

Gmi fast: Will you be running the gen7/cal2001 on your new car. This Looks like a promising setup. If it were out sooner and had some r&d time on it I would have gotten it. But I needed something now and its speed pro away I go. Big things in texas like mike murillos star car run the speed pro, so I thought it couldnt be to bad. I dont know if you know who he is or not but with the new "small" turbo on his car He just went 8.30 somthing @ 185 with O2 readings in the 9 to 1 af range. Dam that car flys. He hit a draggon fly on the big end and it made a cool design on the front bumper. Cant wait to see that thing run after it gets tuned.

87Z: I am running the batch-fire DFI with the Variable Injector Controller. I get DFI items at cost, but my present setup works fine. Just needs more frequent tuning than the new Gen 7.0 DFI. We use a wide-band O2 sensor in my shop for tuning, and reinstall my standard sensor when we finish. No biggie. Yeah, I've seen Murillo run. I also saw him back in 1997 when he was turning 10's in his black notch...

GMI Fast,
Yeah sorry, I see that now. Give me a hint where your shop is relative to St. Louis. I've not yet been to St Charles Il.
How much better is the DFI you have than the old version from 1994? I was not really happy with DFI (then) as far as tuning idle and part throttle.
Another question. Have you used your GV as a splitter during passes to raise your shift recovery? Please share what happened if so.
thanks

The DFI that I have is basically unchanged from the old version. Mine is a version 6.32. Tuning isn't bad if you know what you are doing. Fortunately, my employer has been doing them since 1990, so he can hang with Duttweiler or Lingenfelter.
Don't try to use the GV as a gear splitter! You have to both turn it on AND turn it off before shifting to a higher gear.
I've got too much going on to try and turn sh*t on and off between gears. Mine is strictly for overdriving 3rd gear for top speed runs and cruising down the expressway.

I have a 5 speed with 3:73 and have a dilema. I want a six speed but when i get my twin turbo engine finished i will have between 650-1000hp depending on boost level etc, and that would be very hard on tranny and rest of drivetrain. So my other option is a 400 but i dread the thought of 3 gears. Is your 400 similar to a 700r4 as far as overdrive and realworld highway driving is concerned. I could live with a 4 speed auto even though i would prefer a t-56.
GM1 FAST, I plan on going to Gateway on May 17-20 for the World Ford Nationals. I was there last year to watch them fast Fords. Couldn't take the mustang last year because the cage was not ready. This year I will bringing the mustang. I know its a ford event but maybe we can hook up. I will be towing the mustang with my Chevy Tahoe all the way from Virginia.
See ya, Pete

The GV unit comes with it's own ecm. The control panel lets you choose between manual or automatic (like 700R4) operation. It comes with a supplied floor-mounted switch for manual use, but I use my right-side horn button on my Sparco steering wheel to engage the overdrive. It's the closest I'll ever get to driving like an Indy car equipped with paddle-shifters!
