new tranny... th350 or 700r4

My car is an 86 TA with an 87 350 (q-jet).

The tranny is pretty much shot and I need a new one...

Should I get a 700r4 or would a th350 work better.

I know the later the model the better right?

Stock engine? Go with the 700, just make sure to get a later one. I believe it is post 87.
