700r4 help
is there any one out there who can help me with this??? ok, here is what my r4 does...a few years back, i pulled the tpi 305 and dropped in a zz4 with a carb in my 86 z. the motor has the HOT cam, 1.6 comp cams pro magnum rockers, and the heads have a basic port job. when i first put the motor in, in ran great, but...in 1st gear the trans shifted into 2nd by itself(even if i held the shifter in 1st!) always thought it was just a govorner problem till i took it to the track. 3/4 down the track, the motor tached 7100 rpm(!) in 2nd, but wouldnt come out of 2nd unless i let off the throttle! for normal street driving(and racing) it wasnt a big deal. well, a couple years ago, i bought a rebuilt trans from a guy(retired chevy mechanic who really seemed to know what he was talking about) that rebuilt r4's in his garage. with high hopes of good results, i finally got around to putting it in. well, here it is 2 years later and i am still driving around with the same problem!!! like i said, normal driving is fine-good firm shifts, good part throttle shifts, but for real racing, i'm tired of not being able to go more than 95mph. plus i know i'm losing alot of low end because in 1st it wont rev over 5400 rpm! the motor very easily pulls to over 7000. in fact, once i tried to go full throttle in 3rd and it still kicked down into 2nd. needless to say, i let off real quick. if there is anyone out there who has experienced something similar or knows some one close to me(south east pa) that can help me, please let me know. thanks

Crazy Trans problem
I'm having a similar problem, I just installed a Trans Go shift kit in my junker 700, now it won't hold first gear and shifts out of it at 3500 rpm!!! the car takes off in second unless it's absolutly mashed to the floor, and adjusting the TV cable doesn't seem to change much. In 1 day this thing went from a flat out 1/4 mile rocket to a exclusive cruiser until I can afford a new tranny. I'm thinking it may be the governor but I'm just now becoming familiar with the internals of these trannies. Any advice from the vetrans???
