weird tranny problems read on please
ok guess iv been posting and reading and seraching for some time now and am still totally stumped on my problem. i dropped in my new motor about 2 weeks ago along with the original tranny (th700r4) and stock converter. tranny worked fine with the little 305 in the car but now it wont even go into any gear, heres what iv checked so far
- made sure torque converter was fully seated cuz at first we thought that it wasnt and the pump wasnt being driven, but it is fully seated.
-dropped the pan to make sure that the filter/pickup didnt come loose during removal or installation, everything checked out there, also no parts of gears or anything laying in pan.
-adjusted TV cable perfectly to make sure that wasnt the cause
-checked tranny fluid to make sure it has proper amount in it, good there
-made sure shifter was working properly which it is
-revved the car in and out of gear for sometime to make sure it wasnt air locked.
the TC was installed with fluid in it and all the splines match up on everything so that isnt the cause, when idling and put into gear the engine dosent even bog down like it normally would when a load is being put on it. but when the car is jacked up in the back (tires off the ground) the wheels will spin, slowly but they spin. im really totally out of ideas now the tranny worked like a dream before it was pulled and it only sat for about a week before being put back in, please help me out on this guys, i know someone here knows the problem, im getting tired of listening to my mean 350 just sit there and idle i need to get it on the road any ideas u guys have please share them thanks - jon

To see if the front pump is working, take the bottom line off at the radiator, and start motor to see if you are pumping fluid. Make sure you have a pan or bottle to catch it in. If there is no fluid coming out, you most likely broke the rotor in the front pump.
