TH350 or TH400

i have seen some posts on this question before

but i have one question

if i were to have around 800-900rwhp which would be better for my application

the car will be mostly a strip car but it will be on the street occasionally so a powerglide is definately out of the question

a couple of people tried to tell me to get one

Nice. People may say get the th400, but the 350 can do it. Just build it with all the right goodies, and it will be just fine.

I'm going with a TH400 for my 427ci turbo motor. The reason? A built TH400 from someone like Monstermotorsports is about $800 and is rated to 950hp.A built TH350 from the same company is rated to "only" 650hp.Looking at probuilt.com's site and the TH350 is rated similar.Believe me I'd love to stick with my existing TH350 but reality tells me to go for the TH400.I know the TH350 is lighter and requires less to turn it,but I've never seen anyone sell one or bits to build one above the 650hp mark.I may be wrong and I hope someone tells me otherwise so I can rebuild mine but I've looked into it on the internet and everything points me towards the TH400.

Ive definately seen them built to withstand that, I'll look a little on the internet and see if Ican find any. Either way, the th400 will definately handle the HP.

the thing that tears 350s up is extremely hard shifting (on spray)

And such "abuses".

If you want a transbrake, go 400. If you want it to break your neck on the spray when shifting, go 400.

In almost all other occasions, a 350 will live n/p when well prepared.

If your talkin 420+ cubes max effort and often using NOS, there is no reason to start 400 trans. You will have to make everything else max effort, why start with anything less on the trans.
