1st and 2nd work fine, car got a little warm 2 days ago and got up to 240* (v-6), noticed last night that i could not cuise with out mashing it and making the car kick down into 2nd, get on highway to try and come home, car will only hold second up till 5100 RPMs. Try to drive normal and when it goes to get 3rd, the rpms just fly up till the pedal is down enough to down shift back to second.
Checked tranny fluid, its right where it needs to be, but it turned black, and feels very thin between fingers. Just had it flushed a year back, im really hopeing that i maybe just broke down the fluid from heat, and that i didnt chew anything up in the tranny.

Is there a diff between the tranny used for the V-8's and the ones on the v-6s, as in is there a different bolt pattern, becuase i can find the trannys for the v-8s alot easier than i can for a v-6.

Is it very hard to rebuild a transmission or is it basicly just replaceing parts in it. I got a Cottman Tranny shop close to my house and he said for $25 he would open it up for me and show me exactly what was wrong with my tranny and tell me what i needed. I found a stock rebuild kit for $93 or so on this site
I can drop the tranny my self i belive, just wondering if its going to be a nightmare to do this myself in the rebuild. Money is very tight
im resorting to barrowing my friends Acura Ledgend
