Engine: 355 chevy 4 bolt
Transmission: 4-speed
shift pattern

whats the correct shift pattern for the 82 z28 4-speed 83mm tranny?

the shift plate says diagram 2 is correct but actually works like diagram 1

Diagram 1 is the Warner T-10; diagram 2 is the Saginaw. I have no idea which one has the 83mm mainshaft-to-countergear spacing.

Look at your transmission. If the case is aluminum with an iron inspection cover, and the reverse shifter shaft goes into the extension housing not the case, it's a Warner. If the whole case is cast iron and the reverse shifter shaft goes into the case not the extension housing, it's a Saginaw.
