speedo prob.
i just did an auto to a manual swap. need to get the speedo working. the t-5 is a cable driven speedo. and my car is a electric. i have read some posts about swapping the gears or vss box but still somewhat confusing to me. what are the parts i need to do this. my car is a 88 305 tbi. the tranny is from an 84 trans am. heres another question im also gonna swap my 305 for a carb 350, thats gonna take a little time though. will my speed still work when i do that. the ecm will most likely come out not gona run any emission b.s.

i used to have 2.73 gears in my car then i switched to 3.42. since this is a production gear from gm, you can go to the dealer and pick a new gear to put in your tranny for like 10 bucks i think. that was in my automatic. i bought the gear and took to my buddy that has his own tranny shop, i got mine switched out for nearly free. thats about all i can do to help.

i did the same thing swaped from a 700 to t5. i did some reserching when i still worked at a parts store. i found that if you get a speed sensor for i belive it was about and 84 to a 85 v6 car you will have three opitons. i don't remember what one it is though. i never bought it when i worked there but i do remember that it was about 50 at advance auto. that might help you slim down your looking.
