who has good rebuilt front pumps?

My front pump body and cover are toast. In the pump pocket there is scoring as well as a deep gouge where the vanes have cut into the aluminum.

This front pump looks like a suitable replacement. Do they do decent rebuilds? Any other good rebuilt units available? I was hoping to spend at or less then $200 for the unit.

Get that pump, then a 13-vane kit from here http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm , perhaps?

Unless you match the oil feed passages (that meet the rotor) on the stator half of the pump, the 13 vane setup is a waste of time & money, & a slight loss in oil volume. Stick with the 10 vane setup. Everything else is fine except I think you mean a .400 or .296 intermediate/reverse boost valve?

volume is decreased on every rotation of the pump rotor with a 10 or a 13 (because the addition of vanes reduce a small amount of intake oil)BUT pump pressure is more stable as well as the oil being fed directly to the tv limit valve which supplies the plunger with oil to be used to control all other circuits.the 13 rotor was designed for a bigger pump inlet on the filter side but there is no change in volume as the 4l60e and 700 slides both ingest the same amount of oil into the pump slide area based on slide position controlled by decrease oil fed to the slide.the 13 vane does produce a higher suction on the oil pulled out of the sump thru the filter which is also under atmospheric pressure.due to the spacing of the vanes in the rotor it also produces less rythmic pulsing inherent in the common design of a variable displacement vane style pump above 3500 rpms.
