converter used to lock up, now only when cold , Bad solenoid?

I got my tranny rebuilt/beefed up 450hp. Edge 2800 stall converter installed. used to lock up when stock just fine untill 3-4th blew when running hard. First had new tranny/converter locked up at 40 mph in OD like always. Now it does it only when colder out and tranny is cold. LIke 60-70 degree weather and fresh start up engine. When it gets hot and sits after I turn it off in same weather, the converter doesnt lock up. It does try to lock up when at 2000-2500 rpm half throttle in OD then drops like it is locked up. Kinda hard to explain. Once that happens at half throttle, it continues to accelerate cuz its at half throttle. NOT good for cruising. I am afraid that running like this will overheat the trans. runs at 2500 rpm at 40mph through streets. Any ideas? Is it a bad solenoid? I dont think wiring since it worked before rebuild and after and then when cold.

It is probably the solenoid... When you are driving with the converter unlocked, the solenoid is just letting fluid pour out the bottom of the solenoid freely.. When it is activated, it is supposed to energize and stop dumping fluid back to the pan.. This pressurizes the lockup valve and activates the converter clutch... The solenoid is probably just worn out, I've had a few go bad myself..

Thanks, I am going to drop it off at the tranny shop for them to take a look. He said it maybe the solenoid too, just needed another opinion.

How much is a solenoid, btw?

He gave me 12 month/12000 mile warranty on new tranny, so will it be covered? I wouldnt think the solenoid itself but the gaskets, fluids, and such?

It probably dont cost much, but I trying to save as much money for an new motor or other stuff. Kinda **** when it comes to my cash.
