resurrecting the blue beast
after resigning myself to the fact that my car would be dead until i got out of college, I ran into a bit of good luck, i.e. i won a scholarship, and I now have some money from all the work ive been doing. So i can get my car fixed. Here's my plan... Get the tranny rebuilt and have a shift kit put in it. Take the 3.42 rearend from my berlinetta, put it in my car. Buy a decent torque converter, put that in.
What kind of gains could i see. I imagine going from 2.73 to 3.42, and upgrading the TC will be noticeable but what kind of gains are to be expected. Obviously traction would be a problem but i gotta work on that later. Thanks for the input

The Shift kit will definately make a difference as now you will beable to ride through the gears. Stupid autotradgic likes to shift too prematurely. I bought the B&M Shift Kit. Had a local mechanic install it for me. We went Stage 2. It shifts firm instead of slushy like a stock tranny. Also it has a sweet response when you manually shift it. Now clue what it did to my quarter mile time as we don't have a track or dyno around here for me to test it on, however I am really happy with the shift kit. Definately worth the $100 I paid.
