question on rear end..

I have an 89 TA.. has 3.73's in it.. so they aren't original.. It's 10bolt.. that's all i know..

I assume it is a 7.5". but dunno how to tell without pulling it out and measuring it.. I can't find any PN's on the darn thing..

Wondering what rearends will fit an 89 TA? If I were to look for a stronger one, what would I look for?

Everyone I talk to about a 7.5" 10bolt and Cheater slicks warn me to be prepared to replace the rearend..

any rear from a 3rd or 4th gen f body will work. dana 44 (if you find one) and 9 bolts are stronger. you have a 7.5/7.62 ten bolt. weld the tubes to the center and run a girddle and you'll increase the strength a lot (heard or read 40%)

what are we talking about for strength? I want to go with cheater slicks.. .. break in 1 run? may run forever.. will tear it up quick? trying to get a feel for how strong they are.. heard people say a t5 will get tore up very quickly behind a 350 and yet mine is still going...

depends on how you apply the power and how well it hooks. some people have run in the 11s on factory rears. ls1 is a 13 second car from the factory wit hthe 7.5 ten bolt.
