98 rear

i aquired a 98+ rear some time back, i know it will bolt up for the most part but will the old style backing plates bolt on the 4th gen rear?
my plan is to take the 3rd gen 10 bolt out of my 83 and put it in my 89 to replace my borg rear. take the 98+ 10 bolt and put it in my 83 using the old style backing plates. my reasons for all of this #1 is im slim on cash
#2 i have a 3.45 borg ratio and miles has quit making that ratio and from his last e-mail dosent plan to make more.
#3 the wheels i have on my 89 are front offsets all the way round and a 4th gen rear would push them further out than i want.
#4 if i pop ANYTHING in a borg rear or any part of it decides to dump im SOL.
#5 10 bolt parts are VERY avail and i can build a wicked 10 bolt as strong as the 9 bolt.
i plan to buy moser axles and a stronger carrier for the 3rd gen 10 bolt in time.
