Tq. converter shift recovery...

This is the first car Ive owned with an aftermarket converter. A friend of mine has a H/C LT1 Trans Am with virtually the same converter as mine, and when the car shifts at 6000, the rpms do not drop below 5000. I shift mine at 6200-6400, and the rpms drop to as low as 4500 or lower. The engine then has to recover, and its slowing the car down considerably. Any ideas? Combo below.

355, (HSR, Alum. Toplines, XR282HR-110), 700R4 (TransGo kit, Vette servo, 13 vane pump, kevlar clutches, updated sprags, etc..), Edge 3600 converter, alum. DS, 3.45 nine bolt, weighs 3300lbs.

Without getting sceintific, 1 convertor is looser than the other period. There is a great number of variables that play into the convertor with torque being a big one, but fin angle is another factor.

Your convertor just has less slippage. You can take it out, send it back or take it somewhere to have it cut open and fin angle changed if you want it loosened up. My car drops about 1K between shifts while the S-10 I race drops 300rpm.

Alright, makes sense, I just assumed it was the same brand of converter so it would have the same characteristics. Im outa luck I guess. Thanks for the advise.
