Hey every I stopped for gas the other day and I could not get the transmission out of park. I could get it half way out so I could push the car but it ticked (park still part engaged?). I disconnected the shift linkage and tried shifting it by hand . . . and with a hammer, but it's stuck. Any idea what went wrong? I have the tranny out of the car but I have no idea were to look.

Take the pan off and see where the linkage is binding.
