rear posi/axle question on identification.

Hey,
I need some help identifing an axle. Its from a firebird, its got an aftermarket posi and GM gears in it. I need to figure out how many splines the axle has, and what type of posi unit it is. I've heard of splines as identification, and bolt #'s, 9 or 10.
Thsi axle had ( if I'm counting splines correctly ) 26 splines. I counted the raised ridges on the axle. And its a 10 bolt rear, 10 bolts on the diff cover, ( and 10 holding the gear to the posi unit, not sure if that has anything to do with identification.)
So if I'm correct?? Its a posi for a 10 bolt rear with 26 splines? does that sound right?
Also the unit itself has only a couple numbers on it, and what looks like an angled G on it. Any body know what I'm dealing with? I've done searches for images, etc, no luck. I'm just trying to sell the posi and gears so someone else can use it, I sold my 87z
THanks guys!!!

yes, its an auburn unit, thanks RB83L69, why I couldn't find it, lack of coffee I guess.
Is the spline count correct? Am I supposed to be counting the raised ridges, or the depressions?

26 is a valid number.

It should have springs in it. If they're plain, it's a stock unit; yellow = "high-performance"; orange = "Pro"

There are some numbers stamped on it; seems like it's 3digits-3digits-1digit, or some pattern like that. Auburn tech support may be able to tell you what it is.

The next most important thing about it, is which series of gears it's for. Here's a 2 series and a 3 series side by side. Note on the 2 series that the ring gear flange, on the back side toward the bearing, is near flat; where it's more cone looking on the 3 series. That's because the 3 series one moves the ring closer to the centerline of the pinion, because a 3 series pinion is smaller than a 2 series (since the diameters of the ring and pinion have the same ratio as the tooth counts do).
