jumping out of first gear??
is it a common problem for perhaps teh T5 in these cars to bend a shift fork? car doesn't grind any going into gear, but as soon as you let out on the clutch it jumps straight off gear, all the adjustment screws are in and away from the shifter.

sounds like the 1-2 slider is blown out...miss any 1-2 shifts lately?
there are about 100 little clutching teeth on the front side of the 2nd gear and the oppisite indents on the inside of the slider, so when u go for 2nd gear the clutching teeth on the gear mesh with the indents in the slider...when those clutching teeth wear down from missed shifts theres no "clutching" betwwen them, and since the wear pattern chews up the lead side of the teeth the slider will slip away from the clutching teeth, hence the popping out of gear
