Transmission Rebuild Kit

I am in the market for a transmission rebuild kit for my 176,000 mile 700R4 (or 4L60 to be technical). Nothing is seriously wrong with my tranny, but since I have the opportunity to do-it-myself, I'm doing it. The only problem is that I have no idea what company to get a rebuild kit from. There seems to be a good number of options out there. Does anyone have any experience or tips for a good rebuild kit?

Go to http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/custo...&cat=19&page=1 for the Street/Strip rebuild kit. The ATSG rebuild book is a good one to use for this unit. You should have someone who is familiar with this transmission help on this. It will make things go a little smoother.

Having some help shouldn't be a problem, I'm doing it at college in Advanced Auto. Trans. class with a group of friends. If I was to get that kit, would I need anything else (higher stall TC, trans. cooler, etc.). Thanks for the help so far.

I recommend using a 9.5" torque converter (Vigilante, Edge, etc.) as this is much easier on the gear train, (lighter weight, better torque multiplication). If you have any questions on this, give me a call? 800 7763288 anytime after 10 am PST.
