Flywheel.. you are the weakest link, goodbye
Hey there guys. Fortunately for me (I think) this is my first time that I needed to ask a question on the transmission board. Recently I got my transmission rebuilt due to some severe problems involving a completely worn out 2nd gear and problems with a loose flywheel.
So it has been running great for about 3 months now. Shifting crisply, doing fine on the highway... until last week.
I was driving on the highway goin about 75 around 2400rpm's or somewhere thereabout, and then I had to pass someone some I gassed it and it shifted down into what I assume was third for the added acceleration. As soon as I did this the car did exactly what it had done 3 months before to warrant the rebuild. It revved high(er) to around 4000, and I didn't see any acceleration like it should have been. Immediately after I let off the gas and now the exhaust noise was different... the word "strained" comes to mind, as well as a quick almost ticking like noise coming from the center of the car almost under the dash. My first thought was that the flywheel had come loose again. So I went 55 for about 5-10 minutes and the clicking slowly got quieter and then stopped... Now it happens everytime I'm on the highway at a sustained speed of 70 or over. I don't have to try to accelerate quickly for it to happen, it will just eventually happen.
Is this an overheating problem of some sort with the transmission/flywheel? Could it be driveshaft related? (I only say this because it seems that on hills, even keeping with one constant rpm throught the trip, the clicking gets louder which to me would suggest some kind of strain on the driveshaft? I am no expert)
Luckily for me I am still under warranty with the rebuild, and the guy who did it is a friend, so I won't have any problems. But is there any flags that go up with anyone as to why this has happened?

just a WAG
how to fix that is sorta easy, remove auto tranny and instert T-56 in its place
(I wish that for mine anyway). seriously though, if the flexplate keeps coming loose did you put lock tite on the torque converter to flexplate bolts? my other guess would be somthing wasn't torqued to specs.
anyway these are just a couple of gesses, good luck though

maybe the person that rebuilt the transmission, didnt give you a new toque converter. Do you think you have a new one? Maybe that your problem.

That happens to me too, the flexplate is my problem, it bends toward the engine under hard accleration then ever so slightly hits the starter making a ticking noise..a few minutes later it`ll be quiet again. Mine also clicks in reverse everytime
