700R4 Swap from Caprice to GTA

Axle/Gears: custom GM 8-1/2" 456 posie
700R4 Swap from Caprice to GTA
I am planning on using a 700R4 from a /87 Caprice Classic for my GTA. I assume it will fit, and the tranny mount is the same.
Would anyone know if this swap will work? I believe that I will have to change the rear tail piece so I will have holes for the torch arm, but I am not sure if it is the same shaft length or not. Can someone please tell me if this will work or not.

Transmission: MD8 (700 R4) + 3.42 LS1 Rear
as long it's a 700-r4 then they are the same. some caprices came with a 200-4r. the units are physically them same. only things that would need to be changed would be.....

speedometer gear
trans mount
take those items off your current trans and put them on the "new" one.

One other thing, you will need the shifter bracket for your old trans. Some coulmb shift cars like the caprice have a different bracket but you should be albe to notice if its different.
