no 2-3 or 3-4 shift!!!
Like the title said... I swear I could write a short book on how bad this tranny has been to me, makes me want to buy a t56.
The tranny was stock rebuilt a year ago with a transgo HD shift kit from dana, This summer I added a 3500 stall Midwest converter and a 19,000 GVW B&M cooler(should I go bigger?). Last month I lost lockup, so I replaced the lockup solenoid with no success. While I was in there I installed a .500 boost valve. A week after that the tranny stopped downshifting, only with slowing down.
The downshift problem I’ve had before and was fixed for a while after pulling the governor, cleaning it out and reinstalling. After checking my wiring a million times, my thinking was that A. the lockup was gone in the torque converter, and B. I needed to replace the governor, since doing this last time fixed the problem.
Yesterday, with school off I decided to seize the day and pull the tranny. Got a 3800 stall TCI in the car and swapped in a different used governor that I got from a local tranny shop. After doing all this the car won’t shift into third or fourth gear shift at all. first seems to hold fine, but second seems shakey. Reinstalled the original governor again with no luck. Seems obvious that what I have is a major hydraulic problem. Going to pull the valve body tommorrow afternoon...
To make matters worse I’ve lost the instructions for the Transgo kit. Could anybody fax or scan and email me a copy?
Any clues as to what is causing this and/or what I should look for in the valve body?
Anybody got any a hydraulic diagram for 700r4? I’ve seen a partial one in a thread, but I can’t seem to find it now. It showed the fluid from the governor supplying the pressure to the lockup solenoid and therefore the converter… so I’m think that’s one area I should check out in the valve body.
As a crutch I may just swap in a different stock valve body, anybody see any problem with this, while leaving the .500 boost vavle and corvette servo?
Any other clues as what could cause these problems?
Thanks for reading, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The TV plunger wasn't locked up in its bore and the TV is adjusted right. This has got me stumped.

bueler? bueler?
Pulled the vavle body out last night and cleaned it out good. The 1-2 shift feels like it should but still no 3rd or 4rth.

could be your 3-4 clutch pack is burned up....that would mean a rebuild... might want to pull the casing and check it

Local tranny guy thinks its either a stuck valve in the valve body or one of the sprags (one way clutches) is out.
Probably pull the tranny after finals next week, so we'll see.
