trans slipping in od

If overdrive is slipping,will that make the cruise control disengage?

I dont know. My transmission was slipping in overdrive. All it needed was to get topped off in tranny oil. Sorry I couldnt answer your question.

Axle/Gears: 3.73, 3.90, 4.88, 3.55, 3.54, 7.00
I wouldn't think so. The cruise control would just adjust speed trying to maintain the preset speed. If the trans was slipping it would apply throttle until it forced a 4-3 downshift and brought the speed up to the set level.

If OD is slipping start thinking about a rebuild. The 3/4 clutches are the first to fail. The other sets will follow. It's only a matter of time.

Thanks guys for your replies.I found out what the promble was.I had a inition mod.and coil to both go out at the same time.Fixed those and my cruise is working fine and no more slight jerking or rpm's moving up and down.

im not a expert OR a novice on trannys, so please help.my firebird randomly goes from OD/4 when driving around 50mph. is it time to get a rebuild? its an automatic, and i think it has 5 gears ((im not sure)) im a newb to my car. lol.

that actually sounds pretty normal for a factory 700r4. it is "searching".

btw, your trans only has 4 gear ranges and then lock-up for the torque converter so it can feel like it might have 5 gears but it actually doesn't.
