4L60E with PCM and carbed engine?
I was wondering if anybody has done a 4L60E (electronic) transmission swap into a car with a carburetor.
I was considering getting a 4L60E tranny, LT1 PCM and harness, and then install the necessary sensors for the PCM to control the tranny (MAP sensor, TPS sensor, VSS sensor, maybe coolant sensor).
Currently I have a carbed ZZ4 engine with a 700R4 that shifts like crap; I want to replace it with a tranny that can be programmed to shift anywhere I want, instead of ***ing with that TV cable.
If this works I think the biggest challenges would be rigging up the TPS sensor to the carb and tuning the tranny. The car is a 92 so it originally had EFI and has a lot of the old sensors already... just a matter of running the wires.
Anyway just wondering if anybody has attempted this and what your successes and failures were.
Thanks.

Yeah, that's the way to go. The programmer will allow you to program the trans with a laptp to do whatever you want. You can adjust line pressure, shift points, shift firmness, ect. I think they make them for the 4L60E. I know they are available for the 4L80E. The 4L80E also has the option of using a stand alone PCM from a Diesel truck that's been reprogrammed. They never put a Diesel in front of a 4L60E though. It would be like pulling the pin on a handgrenade and wrapping the lever with a rubber band. Eventually that rubber band is going to fail and the grenade is going to explode!
