Probably a 10-bolt with 3.08 gears, not posi.

Keep doing what's in that excessively large pic, and you won't have to worry about what it is for very much longer..... because it will be dumpster stuffing.

the RS did not come with a posi, you have a 10 bolt with a 7.65" ring gear, 28 spline axels, and either a 3.08 gearing which I believe a lot of the manuals got, or a 2.73 which was common with most automatics and some manuals

What was said above it correct. A posi could be ordered for the 3.08 T5 TBI car but for the cost of it you could step up to a TPI car. There were a few out there though. Chances are you have the one wheel peel as again mentioned above. Unless you are the origonal owner your rear could contain anything. The only way to be 100% sure is to take off the cover and do a little math. A little wrench time will tell all.

well, if there was just 1 mark on the road after that pic, then you got the good old peg leg rear.. if there was two marks (which i doubt) then you got a posi.. doesnt look like your cars was sliding to the side during that burnout, so you more than likely got a peg legger...

jack up the rear mark the tire and drive shaft, count the number of times the tire turns to drive shaft that is your rear end ratio but most likely non posi also look up your rpo codes

This brings a good question for once. I just bought an 84 Z28. It was owned by an old woman that pretty much babied it. It is stock from what I saw, but I never removed the differential cover, nor did I even fhantom the thought of doing a burnout . What stock gears came in that car for that year? Also, did it have a posi?

Take in consideration that I bought this car two weeks before I deployed and I have already unsuccessfully had my tranny rebuilt, , had to do a complete engine tune, install a dual battery setup, and find out the tranny will not turn in any shifted position. Great to be me ain't it?

Then why was that pic posted ??? It does nothing to help with the question being ask. And if the car is stock and came with the 5-speed it should have 3.08 gears and is the open type, NOT POSI

Calm down.. I wasn't trying to knock you, just making an observation is all... Deep breaths and all will be fine.
