700R4 Speedo Question
Here's the problem I am having, I bought this 700R4 trans and now that I have it, I see it has the electronic speedo. What do I need to do to change this over to a mechanical unit? I'm pulling a trans that had the mechanical speedo and would like to stay with it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the info, but since what I'm taking out is a turbo 350 that won't work. I should be able to get the necessary parts from a trans shop don't you think? What all do I need since I'm unfamilar with the 700R4? thanks again for the help.

In that case you'll need at a driven gear and the appropriate sleeve to match, and maybe a drive gear if what's in the 700R4 already isn't the right one.

Pull the VSS out of the 700-R4
PM me the following:
colour of the drive gear (installed on the output shaft) of the 700-R4
rear gear ratio
tyre size
I'll get you setup with 100% accurate speedo gears for your car.

Hey, I really appreciate that. I'll have to go out in the garage here in the next couple of days and do that. I am running 3.73 gears and the tire size is 25" tall. As for the speedo, all I know is that is electronic and is set up for 4.10 gears but unsure of tire since I bought this trans from a guy who ordered it and then changed his mind and went with a Richmond 6 speed trans in his car. I am thankful for the help since I really don't know much about these trannys. I'm going to order the TV cable system from Bowtie Overdrives for the Holley carbs which will give me the correct parts to hook the tv cable properly along with the correct geometry.
