700R4 Dimensions?????

I just ran across this site:
http://www.gearheadtrans.com/techinfo/gm_tech.asp

I thought the 700R4 and the 4L60 were the same units, but if the information posted on that site is correct then they are not the same.

Can any one shed any light on this?

The link I posted, says that the 700R4 is 3 inches shorter than the 4L60

i dont know on that, but they are same tranny, 4l60E look 3"shorter i know, but ive never taken a tape to a 4l60 or 4l60E

so what if they are, then use a thm200c driveshaft then
