Transmission Fluid change

Just heard from the yahoo at the local Texaco that if my car has more than 100,000 miles AND it has never had the transmission fluid or filter changed, that doing so now will cause problems with some of the seals and other internal parts of the tranny.

I have never heard this before and upon hearing it I thought complete . What do ya'll have to say about this.

Peace,
Erik C.

Transmission: it works I'm happy
I'm not sure if its true but I've read it here on the boards a few times. Something along the lines of " the old fluid has metal particles in it that help keep the friction between the plates and to change the fluid is to remove the particles and will cause problems"
if you search for slipping transmission I'm sure you'd find the same threads I did.
I have read it here enuff times to make me not want to change the fluid just in case.

I also called a shop and asked that. They said the fluid could be all that's holding it together. If I mess with it now, I could lose a gear, or slip, or both. I have decided to leave it be until I can get a built one. I suggest you do the same..
