t-10 to th350 swap
My car originally was an auto then had the t-10 and hydraulic clutch setup swapped into it... I kept shattering slave cylinders... and all i do is drag, so it's time to go automatic ( TH-350)
What parts will i need to get back to a Th-350. Right now i have nothing at all.
What type of 350 should i look for? Will I need to buy a custom crossmember? I know i i will need the B&M kit to adapt. And what flexplate should I go with. The motor is a bored 305. Thanks for any help or direction.

Your existing crossmember will work. The T10 and TH350 have the same trans mount location (they use the saem mount in fact). Your driveshaft will work too. Unless you've got an F-body ('82 only) T10, then I assume you've done something about the TA mount already. That will work with the TH350. If not, then B&M makes a kit, as does Spohn.
You'll need a cooler, and cooler lines (easily fabbed).
I'm assuming you'll be using an aftermarket shifter, so that's not really an issue.
Just get an SFI approved flexplate. They're only like $90.
My '87 K5 has a 360 horse, 420 lbs/ft of torque engine in it. I too like them big and fast, especially at the same time!

GOOD MAN! Thats the kinda info i need to hear. I sold the crossmember with the 4 speed to ill just find a th 350 with one.
I couldnt imagine accelerating fast in my truck. 9 inches and 38's is already enough to control... whew. But its pretty cool when you can be doin trails at 3 miles an hour that excite ya just as much as rippin 120+ down the highway.
BTW, i need a trans for the truck too. Its got a 350/th350/np203 fulltime case. What TH-350s will fit in it? Thanks a bunch man.

Well, it was fun on the stock 31s. We'll see how it is on 38.5s with 6" of lift and flipped rear shackles. I'm running a 700R4 in it that I just built. I used one of Pro-Built's kits. It was long and tedious to build, but I'm very happy with the results. I'm still running the stock 208 t-case. It'll be in there until it breaks, then I'll probably swap to a 205/203 twin case setup. The 208s got such a good crawl ratio. If a 205's was as good I'd have upgraded.
Trails are great fun. The more technical ones require at least as much concentration as drag racing or autocross, maybe more. It get a kick from looking back and marveling at what I just climbed or drove through, or over!
I'm fairly certain that any 4WD TH350 will work. Chevy uses an adapter between the t-case and trans that also mounts the assembly to the crossmember, so as long as you've got a 203 adapter you should be good to go. A regular car or 2WD trans won't work because the output shaft will be too long. The 4WD transmissions don't use a tailshaft housing. The adapter bolts to the end of the case and the output shaft slides right into the t-case. Hope that helps.
