Trany Vibe?

I have been chasing down a vibration problem and I was looking for some advice before I tear out the trans.

I currently have the drive shaft out and the car is in the air. What would be a good way to verify if it is the transmission? I was planning on getting a hand from someone then laying under the car and listening to the trans while the drive shaft was out and it is in gear.

The other part of me says just change it anyway but I used that action when I thought I had a bent crank (new motor excuse), out of balance drive shaft, torque converter, and it cost me a lot of money and time so far, not that I am complaining.

I want to verify because the vibration could be from somewhere else like the drive shaft angle or the torque arm angle. I have an aftermarket adjustable type (spohn) that could be the cause but I am not sure what the correct angles are for both the shaft and the arm. I was questioning the shaft because it isn't the original only the one that I got from the car that the turbo 350 was in.

Should I just buy a new 700R4 and dump the 350 and hope that the vibration is in the tranny or keep on checking everything, knowing that I am not too sure what to check for.

BTW, I should also ask if anyone has seen a trany pump? or a gear cause a harmonic vibration to begin with?

Any help is appreciated.
