how to get pressure plate bolts lose
how do i get my pressure plate lose? when i try to turn the bolts holding it in. the crank spins with them. i dont wanna ruin my motor by turning it the wrong way. im also not too into sticking a screwdriver into my pressure plate that may be reusable. also, there is a rubber tube sticking out of my transmission. what it is it and how do i not screw it up when i bolt the tranny back in. thanks for the help.

Pretend that the very bottom of the flywheel at 6 oclock has a bolt, and that the "_" is the ratchet. Just setup that way (it has less leverage against the engine that way) and yank. You'll get them loose.

thanks for the info. will this work on the flywheel too? i tried to get the flywheel bolts lose and the thing kept turning. are the threads going opposite? if not these bolts were torqued down pretty tight. i found out what may have contributed to my clutches demise after 20,000 miles. the guy i had put it in put the throwout bearing on the fork the wrong way. this and my constant drag racing type of abuse. thanks
The flywheel bolts are not reverse threaded. So, all you have to do is turn the bolt without turning the crank.
1. You can put a ratchet on one of the bolts and use that in a tightening direction and loosen the other five. When you get all of the broken except for the one you used to keep the flywheel from turning, just put the socket on it an try to break tq with a couple jerks.
2. It has been a while since I did mine, so I can't remember if you can stick something between the bolts like a screwdriver. If you can't, just loosen two bolts until you can get a screwdriver in between them. Then use the screwdriver to keep the flywheel still
3. If you can get an impact in there you should be able to get them off without doing this. It will get the bolts out without turning the flywheel.
#3 is probably the best way. But, all of them should work.
Good luck

that or get the tool that holds the flywheel. i have heard that them are pretty nice. every time i have had to do anythin with my flywheel or pressure plate i just had someone hold the front of the crank.

These bolts are set i n tight, use only six-point sockets and closed end combo wrenches..When you are looking down on the bolt heads, loosen is counterclockwise..

i got 'em off!!! victory will be mine! haha its all ready to go back in. just waiting till i can get some new bolts before i put it back. im afraid the old ones are just well, old. i may not be able to get them back out again. it is all nice and resurfaced, its nice. could a throwout bearing put on the clutch fork cause the clutch not to be able to adjust itself very well, and cause it to have a VERY short lifespan? say 20 - 30,000 miles maybe? or was it just my harsh driving? well, thanks for the help. umm one more thing where should i go to get new bolts? does ARP have a kit somewhere? thanks once again. i appreciate the help.
Harbor Freight has a flywheel holding tool. I haven't used it yet, but I was down there with a friend few weeks ago and for 5 bucks I couldn't not take it.
I used a large prybar against the flywheel when I had to change a clutch
