4L60E to 700R4 convertion...

4L60E to 700R4 convertion...
Help
today as i was driving my bird to work i stoped at a light and then when i depressed the gas pedal i noticed i had no first gear. I down shifted and still no first. i had second and third but then no OD. I checked the fluid and it was nice and red so no buring stuf and other than the shift kit in this trans there has been no work done to it. I dont have any money for a 4L60E replacemtn but i do have 2 700R4s at the house and was reading on how to hook up the TC with out the ecu control. I was just wondering if there would be any nasty side effects to removing the 4L60E and putting in one of these 700s with a shift kit and using the NO 4th gear psi swtich trick i have read up on the forum with regard to the ecu that runs my 3.8. Also I should keep my TC from the 3.8 correct as the TC for the 700s are from a 305 and 350. any thoughts i appreciate coments and possible solutions as i have no idea how this OBDcrap ecu would react to having the trans pigtail unplugged.

This is a non-thirdgen question, so it'll get locked before long.
The 700R4 won't care that it's replacing a 4L60E, so it'll shift just fine. The PCM probably won't be happy though. I don't know if it'll do anything worse than just set off the SES light though.

I apologize for the topic being 4th gen but i have read your forums for many months and know that the fellow members are very knowledgeable and may provide answers based on experience. I know some have swaped 4L60Es inplace of 700R4s so i thought some may know what may happen if it went the other way around.

I have ordered the solenoid set for the 4L60E and will be replacing them all on wednesday. thanks for your consideration. total cost about 250 dollars and it should be as good as new

Still not working...!
I have replaced my shift solenoids- all of them and also endedup rebuilding the trany and now that i put it all back together i still have the same problem
I now nave a new obd 2 code showing that i did not have before. P1886. Does any one know what this code means? I called the dealership and they would not help me or exlpain this code. Dave at shamrock chevrolete in lubbock said that mechanics were paid the big bucks for taking care of this type of work and the best i could do is take my car in and have a pro fix it for me.... Needless to say i was not happy. If any one has any knowledge on this tras code i would appreciate it. I have replaced all shift solenoids, put a new converter and replaced all steels and clutches, orings and the trans will shift all the gears the first time i turn the car on and drive it but one i stop it will not downshift and just drives around in 3rd. If i drop it down to first i only get second no first.. Once i turn the car off for a few minutes and turn it on again i get all the gears in drive the first time only. This is very frustrating and i already spent over 600 dollars on this trany any ideas would be appreciated.

Figured out!
The roblem was the new 3-2 downshift solenoid turned out to be bad! WTF, well I should have ohmed it out before i put it in I ohmed all the others just forgot to do this one and now look at all the trouble im going through, he well you live and learn. I will be replacing it later on tonight. Ill post uphere tomorrow if that finaly fixes this crapy thing.
