91' WC T5 in an 85'... speedo?
Ok, I am doing a T5 install into my previously 700R4 car. The trans is still out sof the car so I want to do this now. What EXACTLY do I need? I know there is a drive gear and a driven gear does the electric sender use any of the same stuff? I have 3.42 gears and a factory 15" wheel/ tire combo. Is there any where I can get the whole setup? I would asume I could buy the setup for a mechanical T5 car w/ a 3.42, i just dont know where. If anybody has this stuff I will trade my electronic stuff, any help is appreciated.

You need a 20-tooth driven gear; red IIRC. I have a bunch of them laying around, and I think that's what color that one is.
You can get all of this at your local dealer. Don't bother with a bunch of stupid questions about tire size and all that; the number of teeth is so small, that the choices are available only in very "coarse" increments. They'll grill you mercilessly about what wheels and what tires, and tell you all about it's different from factory, etc. etc. etc.; and in the end, it'll still be within the range where 7 & 20 is the correct ratio. i.e. 7 & 19 or 7 & 21 will be farther off than 7 & 20. Just tell them you want a T-5 speedo gear sleeve, a 7-tooth blue-purple drive gear, and a 20-tooth red driven.

Sorry, brain cramp... 7/20 is for 3.23s, which my 2 remaining brain cells jumped off onto for some reason. 7/21 is a better choice for 3.42s.
I should pay more attention to details sometimes.

Automatic to T5 Swap
Instead of creating a new Topic, I decided to reply to this one because I have some similar problems.
First, My 91 TA was coverted from an automatic to a T5. They did a good job on the conversion. However, the speedo always reads higher than it should and I think it is set for 3:23 gears when the car has 2:73 gears. Can this be re-programmed? If not, can someone tell me what to buy?
Also, how much horsepower can a WC T5 take? I had to do some repairs on mine and replaced some parts. Its happy now. However, with an upcoming engine swap of 400 HP, I am nervous about clutched, no scatter shields, T5's, driveshafts, and rear ends. Anybody have some advice?
Thanks,
Doug
