B&M shift improver kit(not transpack)

Well I am going to the track in a month for a spring houston thirdgen gathering and I just cant run with my trans shifting as soft as it is so I just to firm it up a little. Now I am wondering what exactly the B&M shift improver kit will do for me and how hard is it install in a drivway on small jack stands. I have heard alot of bad things about the B&M trans pack so I am wodering just how good the shift improver kit is and if those of you who have it like it. Thanks.

I wouldn't bother going with the shift improver kit. if you are going to do it, just get the transpack. although it is much more involved, the results are worth it. however i wouldn't attempt it unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing.

The trans is just about the only thing on the car I dont work on. Really only because of not being able to get the car high enough off the ground to feel comfortable. If I had a lift it would be a different story. I really just want better than shifts without a complicated installation. Would that be how youd describe this kit?

yes, the shift improver kit would firm up the shifts, and it is easier to install. if that is all you are looking for than it will be fine.

I put one in my 84Z28 when I was 18. My 700r4 was slipping a little from 2-3 and after the kit and B&M trick shift it was good. It's not to rough just messy and you need to take you time.

The kit sucks, only usefull thing in it are the gaskets. It will make it shift harder but will do nothing to improve transmission life like the transgo kit does. Word of advice do not use the street strip option unless you like neck snapping transmission breaking shifts. If you do a search for B&M kit I have posted a couple of non book methods using peices from the B&M kit that dont damage the transmission as badly but still give firm shifts.

Also suggest you adjust you tv cable a couple clicks tighter before you go buy the kit.
