I'm swapping a T5 from an 84 TA with 3.73's into my 85 ta with 3.23's. My new 350 makes plenty of torque to make the 3.23's fun, but also sucks enough gas to warrent the lower gears. My question is if I can simply swap the speedometer drive and driven gears from my 700R4 to the T5 and vice versa (I'll be selling the other car as an automatic).

No. The drive & driven gears are different. So is the driven gear sleeve and o-ring seal.

The speedo cable will hook right up though.

 

oh, good. now I get to break out the trusty calculator and figure out what color sprockets I'm gonna need. What was the equation? (gear ratio) x (paint color) / (original gear color) + (# of previous owners) = my age. Right? No, I've seen the articles, I'm just to lazy to read them until I actually need them.

So are these part numbers for T5 or a 700R4? I found them in the Tech Articles on the homepage.
