rebuilding my 9 Bolt
I know i know - you dont have to say it. But listen. Reading these forums, i got alot of feedback. I need to rebuild my rear end. I have found the gears: http://www.reiderracing.com/gm734.htm which are 3.73's and then found the master overhaul kit: http://www.reiderracing.com/gmkit734bw.htm Does anyone have any other recomondations here??? I heard that 3.73's are a softer gear and dont last - meaning that they are for hard launches and wear quick. Does anyone have any feedback on that issue or and feedback on brand name or gear set-up??? also do you think its necesarry i do the master overhaul kit or should i step down to just the basic overhaul. please get back

you will have to ask them what those 3.73 gears are for (street use or strip) if they say both ask them to be more specific and tell them what YOU plan on doing.
I personally replace the pinion bearings but, reuse the rest unless they are damaged in some way.
(note that the pinion bearings have several differant options and you need the numbers off of the ones in your rear) yes, that means removing them first.
the 9bolt uses the pinion shims under the race rather than the pinion head to set depth
plan on taking it apart several times to get pinion depth, and backlash correct so a one day project can take a week of measuring and checking pattern (it pays to set it up dead nuts on trust me on this! when setup correctly these rears are VERY tough and last a long time)

Yes, it depends what your plans are, everyone is different, and you know what they say about opinions...
...BUT...
...In my opinion, 3.73 gears are too deep for a 700r4 TPI combo. I have a 2200 stall and 3.27 gears, and I'm just about on the edge. I see you have a little more airflow with your ported TPI and runners, but I still think 3.73 are too deep.
