teeth or spline?
This JEG's catalog lists the 3.23 gears i want but it lists teeth number, which is 42-13...what does that mean? and i found this auburn posi diff., says 26 spline, will that be a problem since the 3.23 gear in the jegs catalog is 27 spline?

They're talking about entirely different things. The number of splines on the posi has to match the number of splines on the axles. The number of teeth on the gears determines the ratio, 42 / 13 = 3.23. That has nothing to do with the splines.

I don't know where they got 27 spline from, 7.5" 10 bolts are either 26 or 28 spline, depending on year, they went to28 spline between 88, 89 and 90, depending on who you argue with(I'll stay out of that one)
